Before you finalize the cloud, you might want to know where is the data center located, right? In this guide, we are going to see the DigitalOcean datacenters locations. We will not just see the location but will also cover the important things that you might want to know about it. In this way, you will have a clear idea about the Digital Ocean server locations.

DigitalOcean DataCenters Locations – Overview

DigitalOcean has got 13 data centers speeded across 8 cities. If you talk about the countries, there are a total of 8 data centers where you will find the data center of DigitalOcean.

We will surely talk about all of them here.

At first, you need to know a couple of things before we begin. Each data center is given a name. You can look for more information with the data center name. We will also share that.

Let’s see the location and then we will move to the details of the data center.

  • Asia: India and Singapore
  • Europe: UK, Netherland, and Germany.
  • North America: Canada and United States

This was all about the continent and the country name. You might be looking for a complete list where you can see the name of the city as well as you can see the name of the country, right?

We will now see the same. Here is the complete list of the DigitalOcean datacenters with their data center names and the country where it’s located in. If you also want to know the name of the city, there is nothing to worry about as we have also mentioned the same thing here.

At first, we can see the name of the data center, and then we can see the location of the data center.

As you can see there are 13 data centers. Now, if you want to know more about it then let’s see the Digital Ocean data center locations details.

1. New York City (USA)

There are three data centers in New York City, United States. Here are the details of all the three data centers that goes by the name NYC1, NYC2, and NYC3.

Even though all three are in the same city, the feature availability is different in all.

Even the headquarters of DigitalOcean is located in New York City.

NYC1

This is one of the first DigitalOcean server locations that we will see. It has almost all the features that you are looking for. The speed is great.

  • Apps and Extra Services: Kubernetes, Volume, load balancers
  • Cache App Type: Dynamic and Static

NYC2

NYC2 is located in the Google building. It has limited feature availability. For the same reason, DigitalOcean has restricted the users here. Only the people who have the data in this data center can create more resources and use this data center. Other people can’t use this data center. You can surely go with the next data center as it’s in the same city.

The next data center is located in San Francisco. There are three data centers here. For the people who don’t know, it’s located in the US.

The two data center goes by the name SFO1, SFO2, and SFO3.

SFO1 and SFO2

There are a limited amount of resources available in these two locations. As a result, the people who already have the data there in one of these locations can create more. It’s not possible to create more resources for other users.

You can surely opt for the next option that is to go with the SFO3. It is also located in the same city and is one of the data centers of DigitalOcean.

SFO3

San Francisco has only this data center location left where you can host your data. DigitalOcean has made sure that you are getting enough features here on this server.

The above two data centers aren’t available but here, you will get all the features. We will now have a look at the details of this data center.

  • Droplet plan: Basic, Premium Intel, General purpose performance, CPU-optimized performance, Memory-optimized performance, Storage-Optimized performance

  • Cache App Type: Dynamic and Static

3. Amsterdam (Netherlands)

There are two data centers in the Netherlands. Both of them are in the same city. Don’t get confused here because of the name. Here, the name of the data centers is AMS2 and AMS3 respectively.

AMS2

Just like the deal in San Francisco, here you won’t be able to create new instances. It has a very limited amount of resource availability. Therefore, you can only create more resources in this data center only if have your data there.

The people who are looking for a data center in Amsterdam can check out the next data center.

AMS3

You can surely go with the second data center located in Amsterdam. There are many droplet features here.

Droplets Affecting the Location

DigitalOcean unmanaged VPS hosting

If you are wondering whether the droplet’s location will affect the feature, here is the short answer for it.

  • 1-Click Applications, snapshots, Backups (to enable), custom images, load balancer, IPV6, and monitoring will work on all the regions.
  • Backups to create droplets, floating IPs, load balancers, and VPC will only work with the data center in the same region.
  • DNS, Cloud firewalls, and tags are not region-specific. You can use them in all the data centers.

Speed and Data Center Updates

If you are wondering where you can see the speed of the DigitalOcean data center locations then here are the details about it.

DigitOcean has a dedicated page where you can see the speed of each data center. Unlike other websites, where you can’t see the text or the screenshots of the speed. Instead, you can test the speed all by yourself. Therefore, you can surely check this out here.

You can select the server you want from the list given above and then you can test the speed all by yourself. There are also two files given to test the speed of the server. With this, you can have complete details about the server speed.

Further, if you want to know the updates of the DigitalOcean data center locations, you can surely check out their matrix page.

You can also see that the page is regularly validated by the team. So, you can surely rely on that information. It’s highly recommended that you check the page if you want to be updated.
